Accessibility statement for QuickScreen dyslexia test

UHI is committed to making its mobile applications accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to QuickScreen dyslexia test. QuickScreen dyslexia test is owned, operated and provided by an external party, Pico Educational Systems Limited

Compliance status

This product is not WCAG compliant however Pico Educational Systems Limited have made it as accessible as possible without compromising the functions of the test itself.  Some of the features necessary for compliance - for instance that audio should be transcribed on screen – would not be feasible in relation to a memory test which forms part of the QuickScreen test.  In addition there are also some functions necessary within the test and which are essential to the way the site works, including not allowing users to go back and re-do sections of the test – another feature required for compliance.

However during the design and development of the site they applied a lot of thought to making the system as accessible as possible – especially to users with visual/reading issues as clearly there will be a reasonable proportion of candidates with these difficulties.

Features implemented to this end include:

  • The ability to have all text read out to you at the click of a button
  • All instructions shown on screen in text, audio and video formats
  • Text size can be easily increased and decreased to get it to a comfortable size for the user
  • All text is black on a white background, ensuring the best contrast
  • Buttons are large and colourful, with text and icons indicating their purpose

The user can choose to do tests involving typing with a physical keyboard or via a mouse/touch with an on-screen keyboard.
